SYNC Status Checker Tool
Has anyone used the SYNC Version Checker? Only reason I want to see if there is any update is that SERVICES/DIRECTIONS are AWFUL.
Gives wrong directions, Tells to make weird u-turns when they would take you off route. Only downloads a part of the directions, then requires a "route update" to continue.....the name of a street you've already passed stays on the display. system will not display the next street.....System does not state "arrived at destination". system starts giving directions before "downloading" goes off the display".
I did directions from my house to my post office. As soon as I backed out of my drive way and pulled onto the highway, it stated I was at my destination....HARDLY....
This SYNC is a piece of crap. ONSTAR in my chevy ALWAYS gave COMPLETE, ACCURATE directions. The GPS ALWAYS knew my current location.
Its a program you download from syncmyride.com that you put on a USB drive, then you insert it into the USB port of your SYNC module.
I have been unsuccessful in trying to download this.
states you must have a USB drive that is formatted (empty), and at least 2gb.(check)
When you go to download it, it asks you the drive of the usb (which is D
here..
Then it gives an error message saying "DOWNLOAD UNSUCCESSFUL"
Tried on 3 computers and 3 different brands of USB drives. Can't see that its an issue on my end........................
anyone else successfully checked for an update ? ? ?

I have a Verbatim, Sandisk, no name, and a PNY.
All are 8 or 16. No way 4 usb drives are bad.
I've formatted them in FAT32 and NTFS. Neither work.
Definately an issue with the website.
Its ok if there is no update, but I at least expect the "checker" to work and download on the usb drive.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I had these same problems last night. Finally I got a hold of someone on the CHAT and they said that the tool has not been working. If you give the guy your VIN he can tell you if you need any updates.
I agree. The sync update process is archaic and poorly designed, and barely serviceable.
I donk understand why they can't just push them down the sync connection.

It fixed a huge indexing bug that made USB drives unusable.
The USB drive working in the SYNC is not the topic.
The topic IS why the "upgrade checker" wont download from the WEBSITE onto the usb drive . . . . Have never got to the point where I've got anything to download from the syncmyride site to ever stick in the SYNC usb port.....
