Sync Questions
Just a couple of questions about sync. First I understand it will allow my phone and Ipod to be touchless in the truck, I was just wondering about the navagation system is this a part of it and what other options come with sync? Is there a cost to keep it? is it worth it? Can I program my phone and Ipod in myself or do I need Ford to do thid for me? Is there alot of issues with it (I have read on alot of other posts there are)?
My new truck will be coming with it, I know the sirius radio expires in 6mo, just wondering if Sync expires.
22 more sleeps till until my new baby will be home.

Your GPS runs off of your cell phone service (i believe) I have never used it. I hate to say this because so many people on here say it and I hate it. But "in your manual" there are step by step instructions how to Sync your phone. I don't have an Ipod, but I think all you do with that is plug it in VIA USB and it will work. There are no charges to use SYNC and it does not expire. Not even 911 assist, It runs off of your Cell minutes.
Can't wait to see it, make sure to post pics when you get it.

I love it! You can just hook up your Ipod and it will reconize it. It will take a couple minutes to index the first time or if you add music then hook it up again. I have had a sync system in my vehichles for 2 years now and have had no issues except one in my new truck in which I did a factory rest and it fixed the problem.
The phone syncing is a little more involved but read the sync manual when you get it and it wont be bad.
Are you wondering about touch screen NAV or the turn by turn through the sync system? I believe you get the "services" through sync for 3 years free then need to reup if you want it longer. It goes though your phone and is ok at best and will do the job in a pinch.
Dont read too much into "all the issuse", people will post more about a problem VS posting about something being good. Most of the issues seem to stem from user error or not educating themselves on the system.
I think you will enjoy it.

The SYNC system works great. Been using it since December and wish I had it on my old truck. I love having the controls on the steering wheel and the voice commands. The "services" are pretty cool. I haven't used them that much, but they get the job done.
If you are getting the SYNC system in the F-150, there is a way to run a 2nd USB port so you don't have the iPod cable hanging out on the front of the console. Took about 5 minutes to do and is totally worth it. '
Bluetooth pairing is a breeze. I synced my phone in less than 5mins.
