I have heard that the microphone for bluetooth phone use is in the rearview mirrior. If this is true, what is the small vented thing in the headliner to the right of the driver's side visor for? I always assumed that this was the microphone for Sync. My truck is an 11 Lariat Screw.

 

My dealer told me the mic is where you described - not in the rear view mirror.

 

Nope, not in rearview mirror-Sync Mic is on headliner above the rearview mirror, like what you said--it’s the vent looking type thing.

 

The mike was originally in the rear view mirror. Due to complaints about sound and voice quality, a TSB was issued to install an external mounted mike on the headliner.

So your mike is in fact the 'small vented thing' you refer to.
