Default Sync help. Please

2011 F150 non-nav running original Sync Software (no updates). 3 days ago stn stopped working, won't connect phone. Using the sterring wheel buttons, I can cycle through FM/AM/CD/Sync, however when I get to sync the system thinks for a second then cycles through to the next functio. FM2 I beleive. If i hit the phone or mic buttons on the steering wheel nothing happens. Have pulled the #2 fuse to no avail.

Any help wouod be greatly appreciated, cross country trip coming up and would love a functionig system.

You need to install the updates. Pulling the #2 fuse only works so many times. I had the same problem a few times now, but after I updated to 4.6 everything is working fine.

Bump.

So I tried disconnecting to the battery 15 mins and was finally going to get around to updating the sync software only I stumbled across a new issue. I can't update the the software if I cant first get into the SYNC settings. Now when I cycle through media options SYNC doesn't even come up. Connected ForScan and getting an error message for APIM module "can't read DTC"; and RCM error U0253 - Lost communication with APIM.

So is my module dead? If so, is the fix simply getting a new module then plug and play?

Thanks guys!

Was that an active DTC or history? It may have just come from unplugging the battery, you can get a LOT of "lost communication" codes in these multi-computer trucks. Try clearing it and checking again later.

Updates are a bitch. The process breaks often. Some have had to get a dealer to do it, and some dealers don't even know how.
