Sync gen 1 update
2010 F150 with the non nav sync 1 system I am currently at v4.4 (DE8T-14D544-AC). I have downloaded the file for v4.6 (DE8T-14D544-AD) from the Ford Sync update website. I installed it on a usb drive (formatted for FAT32). I plug the drive into the vehicle and go to install application in the menu. The message on the display stays at "Installing Application" and never changes. I let it sit there for ~45 min and nothing. The version does not update. Any help would be appreciated.
And now that I am reading more about this do I really want 4.6? What am I getting over my current 4.4?
Thanks!!

I performed the same upgrade on my '10 earlier this year. Mine may have even been on an older version than 4.4. Non-nav, non-sony system. The only thing I can see is different is the display now shows song name and artist when playing from Bluetooth audio. Previously it showed "Bluetooth Audio".
I experienced the same issue you had, and solved it by using a smaller USB drive, and ensuring it was not USB 3.0. I originally tried with a 64 gig drive, and finally had success with a 4gb or 8gb (I think Ford site says 8 is recommended, but the update is not that large).
Good luck!
