Default SYNC Blackout, Help!

I have a 2013 EB FX4

I installed the latest E Coastal Tech lockpick and everything functions normally. Lately I have been getting just a black screen upon getting in the car and starting up. This doesn't happen during driving or anything, just when I go to get in the car the radio/gps screen is black and completely unresponsive.

If I remove the negative lead to the battery, it resets and functions fine. This problem is random but getting more frequent. Can't have this happening, a major inconvenience.

1. Anyone else have this?
2. Could it be the Lock Pick? I don't think so, but I will be emailing them next.
3. If I took it in to be fixed/replaced with the lock pick installed, how much grief is my dealer going to give me? I'm pretty sure when they find the lockpick they're going to try to blame it on that, even if X percent of the head units are bad or exhibiting the same issues.

Checked my SYNC account, and I have the map update card and then a Sync update available. I guess I will start there and see how things go.

Also going to look into which fuse is the Head Unit, probably easier to pull that and plug back in than to remove Neg ground.

I wouldent think the sync update would have anything to do with it.
Did you check to make sure the connection dident come loose?
Get on the phone with Coastal Tech
As bbates said,,,Keep us posted,I was thinking about getting one of them

Have seen tons of issues with the My touch system. Your blank screen is caused by your accessory protocol interface module malfunctioning. New updates have new provisions that force a restart when the blank screen issue occurs.

I would never install that lock pick software, the system is unstable enough as it is, no aftermarket company has the resources or knowledge the Ford Sync team has, and they still have issues with the system.

If you came in my dealer I would install the update and tell you to remove software. If you had issues after the update we would refuse work until the software was removed and set back to stock.

I have been dealing with this for two months. I would first uninstall the Lock Pick module you have, which hopefully shows that its not it, its simply the APIM or the entire unit itself. I am so tired of this runaround that I purchased an APIM myself from ford and will be swapping it out when i get home in a few days from the sand box. Good luck and keep us updated.
