Ya it is unzipped. 2 files and a folder in the root. Like I said. There is no data access what so ever. It explains why you need the IDS. The update needs to be forced.

 

Yep. Honestly "stync" isn't worth it if ya ask me. Probably better to go aftermarket on a different stereo with Bluetooth. It's what I'll do when mine craps out completely.

I was able to update my 13 with the basic sync to V4.6 via USB.

I have given it a few tries with several USB drives and SD Card Readers. All the ones with access indicators show no data access when you select install application. And almost immediatly after selecting install application? it says file not found.

I would say with some certainty that the version I am on has a problem with the updater not reading the USB drives. That would explain why the dealer has to use the IDS. They can put the device in recovery mode and flash new files to the nvram. It has nothing to do with the version I am going to but the one I am coming from.

I dont really have any complaints with SYNC. I just want the features the update adds.

 

I had the exact same issues you are having-tried 5 different USB drives,ect..
In that link, someone received the files directly from ford and saved it on a cloud drive. That's where I downloaded mine from and after that I was able to update mine with success.

So I found a dealer to update it for $45. My account says it's up to date. I still do not have media info. I know my phone and app support it because my boat radio shows track info.
