Default Sync 1 repair or upgrade?

I'm impressed with the threads from you guys who upgrade Sync1 or 2 [mine sez its Sync 1, a 2014 XLT, 4" screen] with kits sold online to upgrade to 8" with all the bells and whistles. That said, my 2014 XLT, which tells me its Sync 1, out of the blue decided (1) to not 'bluetooth' recognize my android phone it always liked before (it claims it has a Dec 2025 software update) and (2) decided its 'aux' button should not recognize the mp3 player I have connected that it always recognized before [since 2019 purchase]. I really don't see the need for the 8" touchscreen, etc. [for me, simple is better] and just want to fix the Sync 1 to (1) again recognize my android phone and (2) have the 'aux' button recognize my mp3 player. Any suggestions? If none, what is the most economical way to get to Sync 3 from Sync 1, sans as much of nav, apple, android, all that s**t so I get what I need and little more? Thanks!

I see the links to $1k or so products like this: https://foursynctech.com/products/20...rsion-full-kit
But this is way more features than I want. I'm fine with the 4.2" screen, backup camera, so long as bluetooth connects to my android phone and the 'aux' works to play my mp3 player full of music. What is my fix, if anyone knows? Thanks!

Try a system reset. Try eliminating all traces of the phone from the headunit and vice versa and reintroducing them after a reboot of the headunit.

Hmm. Never been a big fan of SYNC X. Just personal experience all the attempts from 10+ years ago by manufacturers to Bluetooth have been lacking significantly. Upgrading to the latest isn’t for “bells and whistles” but simple functionality. Simply said it just works, is simple and VERY cost effective. Hands down vote from me, simplify and upgrade. I wouldn’t spend .12 cents on that old, inferior technology. Call crutchfield for excellent, knowledgeable service and tech, and everything you need for an upgrade.
just my $0.02. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

for a temporary fix, pull fuse 2 (5A) in the passenger side kickpanel. Mine craps out every once in a while and doing this fixes it. Also, weighing the option of upgrading to SYNC 3 through fourtechsync

Pull the fuse in the passenger side footwell,

Cycle the truck to On, turn off wait 5 minutes, replace fuse.

The Bluetooth module could be stuck..

I had this issue last summer.
