Default Stupid Battery Saver

We drive our 2013 Screw 150 miles. Before we reach our destination, the wife wants to go shopping in Walmart. I don't want to go in so I figure I would sit out in the truck and listen to the radio.

Stupid Battery saver or what ever you call it won't let me unless I run the truck burning precious gas. Total aggravation.

WE DRIVE 150 MILES AND THE BATTERY ISN'T CHARGED ENOUGH TO PLAY THE RADIO FOR A HALF HOUR?

I didn't know F150s even had this. Do the 2011s have this as well? I listen to the radio all the time with truck off. I replaced the battery last year with a Motorcraft one same as the truck came with.

You probably need a battery, mine did that before they replaced it which I later replaced with a optima.

1968dave - I didn't know F150s even had this. Do the 2011s have this as well?
BMS (Battery Management System) was introduced in the 2011 model year. *You can tell if you're affected if you see this on the -(negative) battery cable ...
BTW ... Just because you drive your vehicle <insert # of miles>, it doesn't necessary mean that the battery is being charged during that time. If the BMS determines that the battery does not need to be charged, it will disable/cuts-out the alternator to save parasitic FEAD (Front End Accessory Drive) loss aiding fleet MPG.

There is an SSM 44705 for that message - makes it a bit less sensitive. Have your dealer search your vin in oasis.

Maybe I am missing something but can't you turn your ignition to accessory to listen to the radio? I do this in mine all the time. Doors just have to be shut.

You can as long as the truck doesn't think the battery is to low. If it thinks the battery is low it won't let you. This is the problem OP is having. Also you can just push the radio button on mine without having to use the key at all.

Mine does that too. Freaked me out the first time it happened actually. Mine's a '13. But I've never found out how long it will stay on when I do that. Anyone used it to its limit? (key doesn't even have to be in the ignition)
