Strange wiper problem
2011 f150. I tried to turn the wipers on and they only work on high. They don't park automatically. When you try to use the washer only the pump just runs. The odd thing is this morning when I started the truck the wipers suddenly parked on their own. So I tried to use them and everything works fine. Till this afternoon when I tried again and now they only work on high again.
I was thinking that but what confuses me is the fact that the wiper doesn't run but the washer pump does when the wash button is pressed. I thought that would indicate a motor problem with the low speed. Anyway now its decided to work just fine so I'm going to wait to do anything.
Assuming it is a switch malfunction, I just did this fix a week ago Saturday. My malfunction was the wiper wouldn't turn off even in the off position. From Google, I found the likely culprit was the multifunction switch.
It was raining off and on, I was about to leave for a week's vacation, and my dealer's service department helpfully offered that the soonest they could look at my truck was in 4 days. The CSR (I use that term loosely) wouldn't even hazard a guess if it was covered by my extended warranty, and said I needed to bring the truck in (in 4 days).
Not wanting to drive a truck with wipers that won't turn off, I bought the switch from a different dealer on the way out of town and replaced it in the parking lot. You will need a 5.5MM socket to remove three screws from the bottom half of the plastic steering column cover and a T10 torx bit to remove the two screws securing the old switch to the steering column. It is a 10-15 minute job.
By "switch," understand it's the entire turn signal/wiper arm. It was $44 from the dealer I bought from. This was for an 2012 F150 XLT without rain sensing technology.

So no such luck. I dont really use the truck much in the summer so I've ignored it but its been getting to the point where it rarely works and I will start using the truck more once it snows. So tonight I replaced the switch and it behaves exactly the same as before. Any other ideas?
