Default Steel Wheels

Back in the 70's the wheel a lot of people used were white spoked steel wheels. They looked similar to what you see on trailers today. I have been looking for these in 17" 6 lug for my 2014 F-150. Can seem to locate any. In fact I am surprised how difficult it is to find any kind of steel wheels in this size considering how may F-150's Ford has made in this configuration.

Very few want steel. Why not search for white aluminum rims?

My guess is they aren't made because they wouldn't sell many if they did. Other than cost, there is no benefit to steel wheels over aluminium. And the wagon wheel style isn't "in style" anymore, especially with newer vehicles and 17"+ wheels. Also, it's a very limited market to start with, thanks to Ford's oddball lug patterns...they would only fit 04+ F150s/Expeditions (and Expeditions don't typically get modded much).

But FWIW, a friend of mine used to have a 7 lug HDPP F150 and found out that several wheel companies would custom make the 7 lug wheels. I don't think he ever got a price quote though, and decided he like the stock ones just fine.

Lightbulb

Things to keep in mind ...
.
  • 17" 6x135mm OEM steel wheels have been available since 2004.
  • the white spoked steel wheels (-IF- found) probably (?) won't be hub-centric. MEANING: have a 87mm | 3.4252" center bore.
  • a set of used and/or Raptor rims (which are 17") would/could be less $$$$$.
.
