I have a 2012 with a 5.0 roughly 35000 miles and sometimes when I try to start it the starter stays engaged for awhile. I've called my dealer and they say they've never encountered a problem like the one I'm describing and since it doesn't do it all the time I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? The dealer told me to take a video of the problem when it happens to prove what my truck is doing..

 

Really?? They've never heard of a starter relay or starter solenoid sticking?? Did they just open yesterday?? LOL

 

Sounds like the relay. And I'm with RogueGT, while it's not "common" it kinda is hah.

 

not on ford , but old lady down the street had that happen on a caddy and she drove at highway speed ,that reved up the starter over cranking rpm and mrequired a new starter, better check this out
