The resonated X-Pipe your talking about, is that the Magnaflow unit? The resonator with an X-Pipe designed internally? Two years ago, I put a complete Mandrel exhaust system on my '94 T' bird. It had the 4.6 in her. They are known for a bit of droan with aftermarket exhaust systems. The old exhaust I had on the T'bird was a custom built system with Dynomax Bullet mufflers, and was ten years old and in bad shape. The new exhaust was a system designed and built for the MN12 platform ('89-'96 T'bird/'89-'97 Cougar) by a company named Mandrel Exhaust Systems. At that time the system I purchased included Magnaflow high flow cats, and Resonator with internal X-Pipe. I put on a set of the Dynomax VT mufflers. Well, It was way too quiet. I'm guessing it was quiet due in part to both the Resonated X-Pipe and the VT mufflers. I mean it was almost stock quiet. And even when I tramped down on 'er, it just had that hideous "Rush" sound, which I attribute to the VT mufflers. The advertising on those, incase you haven't heard, at idle they are quiet. But when you tramp down, the pressure of the exhaust flow is suppose to open an internal valve, and increase exhaust flow, and sound. Wasn't very happy with that. So I'm just saying that in theory, a Resonated X-pipe sounds good? In my case thou? I hope it works out fine for you.
