Default Sporadic working backup camera

2011 Screw FX4-I have a backup camera in the rearview mirror. Lately when I use reverse the camera does not work. Seems to work 50% of the time. When it does work the fixed lines are present and all seems ok. Reluctant to take it to the dealer as it is sporadic.

Anyone else have this issue? What was the fix?

I had a similar issue where the backup camera (in the rear view mirror of my truck) was scrambled and you couldn't really see anything. It seemed to be related to when I used the remote start, so I started making sure that I turned the key completely to the Start position (As if I were starting the truck even though it was running), and haven't had the problem since.

had dealer look at it. they replaced the rear view mirror but it still does not work 100% of the time. it did throw codes. I have another appt to take it back.

Does anyone have any thoughts on a possible cause for the camera not working coming on when i put it in reverse? Comes on about 80%.

Is the camera tied in with the sync system at all?

Any help would be appreciated.

My backup camera is part of my nav system. Every few days when I put it in reverse, I get a message that says "lost wireless signal to camera". A bit later I can use reverse again and my camera is back. Hard to have a dealer look at it when it only fails 10% of the time.

Default Fixed-Yea

Well after about 3 more returns to the dealer it appears a fix has been found. The camera and rearview mirror were replaced. That did not resolve the issue. Next, 2 wiring harnesses were replaced(one above the headliner and one in the rear) It appears there was a connection problem in one of the harnesses that was causing the sporadic issue.

Also the zoom function was not working and this turned out to a diode failure in the inverter per the dealer. I am not sure how the inverter is related to the camera zoom function but there is a service bulletin on the relationship of the inverter and the zoom.

Good afternoon, I know it's been a few years since your post and I hope you can get back to me. I am having the same trouble with my camera and compass, and I was wondering if those actions by the dealer actually did fix your camera? Also, what do you feel was the true fix? I know you mentioned that the mirror, camera and wiring was all replaced but did you try your old camera and mirror after the wiring was replaced to see if it was in fact the problem? Thank you for your time and any help or advice you have.
