Default Spare Tire Carrier Raptor vs F150

I plan on picking an extra Raptor wheel up to keep as my spare now that I changed my wheels and tires. Does anyone know from experience if the Raptor tire carrier and the regular F150 tire carrier are one and the same?

Looking through Tasca part center online I've found this so far:

9L3Z-1A131-A: used on 2012-2014 V6, V8, XLT, Xl, FX4, Platinum, King Ranch

DL3Z-1A131-A: 2013-2014 Raptor 6.2

Al3Z-1A131-A: 2010-2012 Raptor 5.4 and 6.2

Seeing this I'm guessing the carrier units all mount the same, but the Raptor versions have a different, narrower "shoe/clamp" piece that would go through the center cap hole and hold the tire in place.

Can anyone confirm this? Just want to double check before I pull the trigger on a 2010-2012 Raptor unit for my wheel.

Thanks!

I would think it would have to be smaller as you say. The Raptor wheel has a very small center hole. This is just personal opinion, but I've gone through the life of a couple trucks and never had to install the spare. I don't think I'd bother with the spare wheel, but to your question, yes I think the AL3Z is the part you need.

Also, I just got MY Raptor wheels yesterday and am going tire shopping/buying this morning when the shop opens at 8am. I have a 1.5" level and am probably going with a 285/75-17, which calc's out to 33.9 x 11.22". Anxious to see how it looks.

I would agree, thanks for the feedback.

Awesome! Post up pictures when you can. I would have liked to do 285/75s on mine but I decided to leave the suspension alone for the time being so I stuck with the 285/70s

Not the best pics but its super bright out (and 104°). I'll try for better later, after a much needed washing. Toyo 285/75-17 AT2 Xtreme.

Oh, NOW you tell me! I wanted to go with 305/70-17's but the man at Schwab thought they would take a fair amount of front wheel well trimming since I only have 1.5" level. Actually I drive a lot of gravel roads and they would probably give me road rash with the wider wheel stance.

The stock raptor wheels and tire will fit the stock f-150 tire carrier. It's a tight fit getting the cable and mount through the hole but it fits.

Agreed. I have a 315/70/17 on my spare Raptor wheel. I also need to give it a little guidance by hand while cranking it up into place.

Not sure if you found a spare wheel yet, or which Raptor wheel you are running. I have a spare black Raptor wheel that is available. This is not the wheel that is bright machined on the face and black on the inners. It is the older Raptor style that came with the Charcoal colored wheels and a black colored spare.

For those interested in this, here are the results.

9L3Z-1A131-A tire carrier off my 2013 F150 to the left
AL3Z-1A131-A tire carrier off a 2011 Raptor to the right
Units are the exact same as far as size, mounting and function. The main difference is the "shoe/hold down" bracket size and shape. It's much flatter and narrower to go through the smaller center cap diameter of the Raptor wheel. I did not take any dimensions.

Simple removal. Two bolts and the unit slides out.

Full size spare. 285/70/17

Done.

A spare with a 285/70/17 tire fits without any modification to the exhaust heat shield.

Awesome! Thanks for posting this info up. Nice to know that we can fit 35" spare tires in the spare carrier well without any mods needed.
