I would like to know this as well. After you remote lockedthe door and manually unlocked the door your light came on? Did the vehiclestart? I have a 2013 with remote startas well. What I want to do is remote start my vehicle in the morning and leave thebig fob at home, then carry the additional thinner key in my pocket unlockingthe vehicle remotely is not that big of a deal to me as long as the other programmedkey will start the vehicle. I don’t like carrying the big fob in my pocket allthe time. Thanks

I just tried this on my 14. Locked it with the factory keyfob then unlocked manually with the spare key. It opened up no problem and started the truck with no messages on the display.

What I'm planning to do is buy a spare key blank and have it cut to match my factory fob/key. If I understand your post, you were able to unlock your truck and use that same simple key to start your truck?
I plan on keeping my spare factory key/fob inside my truck, so all I really need is a key that will open my door. I plan on hiding my simple key under my truck. Also a 2014 f150. Thanks for your help.

Anyone know if the 2015 F150 Flip key will work? It has all the buttons and remote start button. You can pick one up on Ebay for $90

That's correct! I bought (2) key blanks, had them cut locally for just a couple bucks then I programmed them using the procedure. I now have a total of (4) keys that will unlock and start my truck. I actually just used the spare key last week. I unlocked my truck with the code and thought my keyfob was inside. It wasn't, so I grabbed the spare key to drive it into the garage.

I only have one key for my 2011 F150 XLT.
The remote stopped working (changing battery did not fix). I went to the dealer and they said it would cost $300 for a new key with remote open and lock, and panic.
Am I stuck having to pay that rediculous amount for a new key?

Thanks

Yes, if you have one key, only a dealer, or someone with an IDS can program a new key.
Most dealer charge 1 hour labor (about $150) + the price of the key (another $150).

For an extra $50 you can get the Series 100 remote start kit ($200), comes with two keys and cost the same to install.

At least then you spend $350 and have something to show for it, remote start. Just an idea.
