Sony subwoofer
I have the premium six cd unit and if I am reading the wiring diagrams corectly I think the Audio Control Unit (Head Unit) is the same for both. Do you have experience reading these? I could send you the pdf if you want. any help is appreciated.
My concern is that their is a grounded shield shown in the Sony diagram, but not in the non Sony. From my experience, this would mean that the Sony DSP is recieving low level signals (high level signals are not as subject to electronic interference, and, as such, don't need the sheilding). If this is the case, you should be able to correct it with a Line Output Converter. Unfortunately, this may also mean that the head unit tapers off the bass to the high level signals to the doors, in which case you may want to step up from a cheap standard LOC to the MTX R-eq or a similiar bass processor to add the tapered bass back into the signal.
That's the thing that's hard to tell, the shield ground (Pin 24 in C290A) is only shown in the Sony diagram, they could be though. The sony head could just have the same connectors as the non-sony but still have different outputs. Try calling the dealer and finding out if the part numbers are different. Another way to tell in the Audiophiles is that they have additional options in the menu (i.e. on my Audiophile I can change the sound field to all, driver, or rear passengers)
Good point, I didn't see the canbus circuit last night on the seperate power page of the diagrams. PAC makes an integration interface: http://pac-audio.com/productDetails....&CategoryID=26
Ok. I talked with Tasca Ford and it appears the HU is the same for both, however they do have two different harnesses. The premium interior harness ends with AMB and the Sony harness ends with APB this may be the deal breaker because the harness is more than $500 and you have to pull apart the entire interior to replace it. I haven't given up yet so suggestions are welcome. So close yet so far away.
