Ford will likely be easier to work with than the dealer.
Time will depend on availability more than anything else. Plus a few days for the work.
I agree! a deductible is a deductible. If your ESP does not mention anything about a deductible + miscellaneous charges, I would think that dealer is conniving .

I stopped by to pick up the rental today and talked to the service advisor. The statement was because he had not ran it past Ford ESP yet and wanted to make sure I knew what the diagnostic cost was going to be before they started taking the engine apart!

He got all the paperwork back from Ford today and all I will owe is the $100 deductible + $140 for the alignment and to mount and balance the tires, oil change is on the house, lol!
He is working on an estimate to replace the belts and hoses while they are doing the engine swap!

Only bad news I got today was that another adviser accidentally rented out the 2018 truck that he was holding for me, and I ended up in a 2018 Escape instead!

On the bright side, the engine order is processing and he is showing it arriving on Wed!!! Guess that is better than the 2-6 weeks he was told when he placed the order!!

All in all I am happy with the service I am getting!

Yes for sure, as I've helped a couple of coworkers disable it on their trucks.

Good news for me, the dealership received the remanufactured engine today, tech say it looks good, he already has the old engine out and says he was hoping to have the new one in tomorrow!!
That is going a lot faster than I thought it was going to . Crossing my fingers an toes that this goes well, I am missing my truck!

Glad they are taking good care of you. Did you have any indication of an issue before this was diagnosed? Seems odd that it would just crack like that.

Before the diagnosis, I did not notice anything out of the ordinary, the occasional miss (had been putting off replacing the spark plugs) And some blue smoke from the exhaust early in the morning, the dealer had looked at that issue on prior visits and dismissed it at being due to the cold Ohio mornings, in hindsight, I should have insisted that they look into it further!

Damn, well that sucks. Not much of an indication that you had a serious problem like that.

Oil change is "on the house" because it is included in swapping the engines.
As far as the rental goes, tell them you use your truck for work and need to have a like vehicle, they will find you a truck.

This is becoming comical!!!

Re-manufactured Engine is in. While running it thru various tests, the tech heard the timing chain rattle, long story short, parts are now on order to replace the timing chain on the Re-manufactured Engine!!!
And I am seriously considering a new truck, went on a couple of test drives yesterday, but did not like any of them!!!

Quick Reply: So, I took my truck in for an oil change and new tires
