Default Smell coming from platinum seats..

Hi all,

I recently purchased a 2010 platinum that I'm loving so far. Coming from a previous lifted truck, I have the mod bug hardcore so its already received the treatment listed in my sig.

Only problem I seem to have is a strange smell that I think is coming from the seats. It isn't a horrible or awful smell, it just smells a bit "musty" if that makes any sense. I cleaned the carpet and headliner, no difference. Put my nose up to the front and rear seats, and I got the exact smell. Smelled the rear bench seats, same smell as well.

Anyone experience this before? Or anyone know a good product to get this stuff out with?

In addition to cleaning the seating, it sounds like it may be time (?) to change the cabin air filters.
LH (driver) front seat ...

RH (passenger) front seat ...

Awesome! Thanks for the helpful info and picture man. Can I get that filter separate from the TED from tasca or local dealership or something? Any idea on a part number?

The pic's show that the filter is separate from the cushions' TED (Thermo-Electric-Device), HOWEVER, neither the service manual nor my parts list provides a part #.

EDIT: A search notes that other members have gotten the filters from their dealerships but alas ... no part #s were indicated.

Just went under the seats and removed the filters, they are no longer pearly white but a nasty brown. This may explain the smell and the seats not getting cool very fast, however, I wonder why the rear seats smell that way as well?

You've heard of "second-hand smoke"?

Second-hand smell.
