Default slow throttle responce

Hi guys I have a 2012 F150 Scab 5.0 6.5' bed with 373 rear gears when I floor it from a standstill or give it a lot of gas while moving it takes a second to respond is this normal? My truck is bone stock. Is there a way to improve this? I hear about tunes on here but what do they do and where would one have them done?

Done the standard stuff, i.e. cleaning of MAF and TB? And yes, a tune would definitely improve your throttle response. You're looking at a few hundred $ for a tuner (look for used deals) and another $50 (on the cheap end) and up for the tune.

I did this with my 14 ecoboost and it made way more difference than I was expecting. The pedal is way more responsive. All stock power train BTW

I admit I didn't read the whole thread, but what part exactly did you do? This was mostly focused on the 5.4. Did you do the up/down pedal thing or the adjustment screws thing?

Interested in hearing what might improve my Ecoboost pedal.

This is what I do, I copied and pasted this from a thread I did on another forum :

Throttle Calibration

Throttle calibration can substantially improve throttle responsiveness over "factory standard." Many people notice what appears to be sluggish throttle response or a "dead area" at initial accelerator depression. Throttle calibration can take care of these.

1) turn the key in the ON position (don't start the engine)
2) press the gas pedal down slowly all the way down
3) let go of the gas pedal fast so it come back up
4) turn key into the OFF position
repeat steps 1-4 two more times then start engine.

Most drivers notice an immediate change in throttle response, but depending on your driving style, you may need to repeat this procedure periodically due to the computer's adaptive programming. You likely need to repeat this procedure any time the battery is disconnected.

I also have a 2012 with the 5.0. Over the last few days I have replaced spark plugs with oem motorcraft sp519 gapped at .045, cleaned throttle body and maf sensor, replaced transfer case fluid, rear end fluid and did an oil change. And did the throttle body relearn and I can say the truck has never ran better. Feels like it picked up 20 horsepower. Truck has 55,000 miles on it. At about 25000 I put in some ngk iridium plugs and gapped them at .050 and with just 30,000 miles on them most came out at .055. I can say these oem plugs are better than the ngks. By far. Since I bought the truck with 20,000 miles I have been using castrol syntec 0w20 but this time I went with Pennzoil platinum 0w20. Always with motorcraft filter. Have heard good things about Pennzoil. I go about 10k between oil changes.

Its in your head , I thought the same when I tried it ..... But after you really get it fixed with a tuner or sprint booster you will see a real change in throttle response and then you'll know all that key switching pumping the peddle did nothing but fool your mind fo ra while ... A tuner or sprint booster are your only options ... but they work and well they do ..Tune your Truck and you will see a whole different animal that comes alive under the hood ..... That throttle delay sucks , hated it till I got a tuner
