Default slip-joint "clunk" fixed!

About 3,000 miles ago, my truck developed the well-known "bump" in the driveline when stopping and starting.
Took it to the dealer this morning, and the entire process was great. Very courteous, knowlwdgable and helpful.
It took them only 2 hours, which tells me they get csrs done efficently without a lot of farting around like some dealers do. The "fix" involves replacing and upgrading the grease in the slip-joint I believe.
The truck drives great...just like new again. Hope it stays that way!

Mine does this bumping things when I first start driving when engine and tranny are still cold but it stops when it gets up to temp. Is this what you are talking about?

Pretty sure I'm going to drill and tap a grease nipple for the slip yoke. Just waiting for time, place/weather and ambition. The clunk sure drives me nuts though.

Not sure if it was the upgraded grease or not, but my dealer ordered a "repair kit" for this, which was back ordered. Waiting for that and the intercooler.

Mine also started this early December. But it would be off and on so I didn't really worry about it and now it's pretty often. I'm not sure what the dealer would say cause I've got a level with new tires... My moms 06 does this too and they told her that nothing was wrong.

That wouldn't do nothing unless you have a grease groove inside so that the grease can travel all the way around the yoke.

This bump is natural. Every truck I've owned has done this. It's a fairly simple task to do in the garage. Grease wears out and it'll start doing the bump again until it is re-greased. Grease isn't made to last forever.
