Default Slam!

Does anyone else have this, I'm driving along, normal stop and go, a jug handle here and there and all involve taking my foot off the gas for a second or two and when it's time to get back on the gas I get an awful slam , like the slip bump but it's not. It feels like someone rear ended me. I've brought the truck in for service on numerous occasions only to be told it's "operating as designed". I can't be the only person having this problem. Is there hope for my beloved 2010 F-150?

There is hope. It's in the form of a shiny new blue flame 2013 XLT 5.0!!

I have this issue as well and it's still inconclusive.

About 3 times in 7K. No warning, no nothing, it just happens then everything goes back to normal. Figure if there's no way to reproduce it on demand the dealer is absolutely no help.

It's the rpm dropping then you getting back on the throttle right as its shifting up and it's jumping back to a low gear to give ya some power. That's just my guess if you want lighter shifts get a programmer with some nice custom tunes( i recommend MPT as i have them and they have unbeatable customer service and great tunes)and with the programmer you can adjust shift firmness

Happens to me all the time. I was told (I have no data or proof to back this up, just what I was told) it was something to do with the low pressure transmission we have. I find it is better if I am more aggressive with the throttle. It is the worst when driving slowly through a parking lot and barely need any gas. Usually the shift to 2nd. And is worst when the transmission is learning but have had it happen where I thought someone rear ended me in different gears.

Isn't there a tsb to address slack in the driveline that causes a thunk / bump feeling to the vehicle under driving conditions (particularly highway)?

This happens in my 08 XLT. For me it's always after I let off the throttle to slow for a light or something, then when I step on the gas again, if I haven't slowed to a near stop, the bump/slam happens.

Before the F150 I had an 06 Mustang GT. It did it too.

I just figured it was drive train lash. The slack in all the connecting points coming back together at the same time. Like a chain driven motorcycle.

Since it is the second Ford I've owned from the same design period, I just figured it was normal.

Happens to me too. Always when kind-of coasting along and then barely stepping on the gas. Dealer so far, has been no help. Said bump-stop feeling was from a 2-part drive shaft, and I apparently have a one piece....

Took my 2010 F150 in for this same issue several times. They have done several reprograms on the transmission. The only thing that seems to work is when the lube the slip yoke. The only problem is that they have done it twice.

Mine does it too. Had my truck right about a year now and has done it since I got it. I honestly find that if I drive the truck a little more aggressively it doesn't do it.
