Default Single Exhaust Inlet Question

I'm planning in doing a Single In, Single Out Flowmaster Super 44 Muffler. For anyone who has down a single out muffler swap, did you go to a 3" inlet, 3" outlet or stick with the stock 2.5" inlet, 2.5" outlet?

Either way it's not going to make much difference in performance. Doing it yourself or a shop? I would think the 2.5" I/O would match up easier to weld up. I swapped in a 50 series Flow; sounded better but no increase in performance. I finally went to 3" SS AFE fatback and extremely happy with the sound and performance.

At first I was gonna do a 3" pipe deleting res, into a SIDO at 2.5. But the cost to run the second pipe as compared to the single wasn't worth it as the sound won't be much different.

So I am still wanting to do a "catback" but a single rather than duals.
