Default Shock option advice

2013 fx4 ecoboost with 2 inch AS level and airbags in the rear. 20x9 wheels and E rated duratracs.

I'm looking to soften the ride with shock upgrades. I'm looking to keep the shock price under $500.

What would you suggest?
Bilstein?
Fox?
Other?

What amount of improvement should I expect?

Bilstein's are better and firmer than the stock ones. If you do some serious off-roading, go with Fox shocks.

I'm actually wanting to keep the same amount of level and soften the ride.
No serious off-roading. I do go off road 20 days per year but it's easy to moderate at most.

The bilstiens significantly increase ride stiffness it makes the truck feel more planted and sporty it is a significant performance improvement imo

I'm still stuck between bilstein 5100 and rancho 7000mt. both will cost me around 600. I have a 2010 and drive frequently both on and off road. Also have a 1.5 auto spring lift with rear firestone airbags

Guys,
with the 5100 adjustable... How difficult/easy is it to adjust at home? For example. I'd like to level my truck BUT I periodically tow a Camper and do not want to ride nose high. Would I be able to simply readjust the 5100s or is this something that will require taking it to a shop or specialized tools? (I've searched various posts but current computer/network is limiting results)
Thanks.

After having both fox coilovers and 5100s, you can't beat coilovers. Not to discredit the 5100s, they were good shocks and a nice upgrade over stock, but do not compare to coilovers.

I'm looking for a softer ride. Do the coilovers provide this?
