Yep I can confirm my 09 at 2050 miles is still doing it, but not regularly. Perhaps its a slow learner?

I've had the same problem with mine but after about 4500 miles it's starting to go away. The reason is with the 6spd the first gear is huge, 4.17, much bigger than the previous 4 and 6 speeds we're all used to. Then it drops to 2.34 in second, which is closer to what we're all used to as 1st gear in our 4R100's and 4R80E's. That is why the trucks seem to hesitate off the line and have that harsh shift to 2nd because it drops so much. I've talked with a bunch of people on other forums and to guys at the dealership and they all say the same thing. Drive the wee out of it, which is no problem for me, and the transmission will learn. You really can't say it will change by 1000 miles or 10,000 miles, it will change when it changes based on just how you drive. So drive it like you stole it, whats the good in a having a new truck otherwise?

I'm at 2075 miles and the 1-2, 3-4 and 4-3 seem to do poorly still, it has gotten better but it's still not right, Wife doesn't like it.
My buddy at the dealer says there is no SW update yet. I hope one comes out soon..

Default no worries

Hi all...

Well after a month and a half of ownership and a touch over 4,000 miles my truck (FX4 Scew) hardly ever does the hard 1-2 shift. However, I won't say never. I have learned to just drive and not think about it. I was initially trying to vary speeds when accelerating to be "easy" on the transmission but that is pointless. I think drive it like you stole it is the right idea and once you forget about it and let the tranny do its thing, the problem seems to vanish. Kind of like the "a watched pot never boils" thing... the more you think about it, the more it drives you nuts. I think the transmission is just fine. Don't worry, be happy and enjoy your truck while it is still shiny and new... my .02 anyway

There is now a technical service bulletin on this issue. The dealer updated my software yesterday and it appears to have solved my harsh 1-2 shift. It's TSB 09-11-05. If anyone wants a copy, email me your email address and I'll send it.
