Default Service engine light and 4x2 flashing on dash

Had this happen yesterday. Once I restarted the truck the engine light stayed off and the 4x2 quit flashing.

I used the 4x4 high to get up my street, then turned it back to 4x2. I did not notice when the warnings happened but the check engine light was on and 4x2 were flashing when I arrived at work.

Anyone have any idea what may have caused it?

It was the first time I used the 4x4 setting since I bought the truck a month ago.

Not too concerned at this point, nothing was wrong on the drive home.

I am thinking some ice on a sensor or something similar.

Thanks for reaching out, Mike.357. I know you say you're not concerned at this point, but I still suggest having your dealer take a look when you have the opportunity; they may be able to diagnose this. What's the model year and mileage on your truck?

Mine is a 2014 with a 5.OL, 2100 miles.

I used 4x4 again today to get out of my driveway and up the street. NO issues what so ever. Not planning to go to the dealer until the first oil change.

if you think it is prudent I will go next time I have a day off.

Thanks for taking time to reply Brittany.

It truly is your choice when to take it in, Mike.357. Taking it in and bringing it up during the first oil change sounds like a plan, however, if this keeps happening, I would bring it in sooner rather than later. I'll keep an eye on the thread for any updates from you. If you have any other questions moving forward, you know where to find me!

I have not gotten any more of the warning lights. I have used the 4wd daily, even used it on the entire commute (20 miles) home last night in the snow fall we had.

I'll wait until I take it in for oil in a few thousand miles.

Thanks for following up on this!
