Default Security System not working - Solved

I installed the 200 version security system / remote start this afternoon. I understand that the remote start wont work until I have it enabled. The shock sensor / security system doesn't seem to work either.

I mounted the shock sensor and remote start module on the vent tube on the drivers side. I roll down the window and lock the truck with the FOB and when I bang on the wheel...nothing. I have tried the sensitivity adjustment all the way up and still nothing.

Is it not sensing a shock on the vent tube and possibly needs mounting on the metal bracket below that? Is there a way to test or tell if the security module is even good or alive?

Any help or ideas appreciated. I was looking forward to having the security alarm as much as the remote start.

I have a 100 series with the shock sensor. It's mounted to the drivers side vent tube and works perfectly. Once you lock the truck with the fob you have to wait about 20 seconds for it to engage. I have my sensitivity set to if you hit the tailgate it'll set the alarm off. I don't think it'll work until the remote start is activated by the dealer.

Ok I tested the alarm, but the shock sensor doesnt seem to be working?

I rolled down the window, locked the door to arm the system, waited 20 seconds and then reached inside and unlocked the door manually. When I opened the door a chime went off and the display said to start the vehicle to disarm the system.

I assume this is the security system I installed and not the PATS or default security?

I also turned the shock sensor sensitivity up all the way, waited twenty seconds after locking the door and bangned on the steering wheel...nothing? It appears the shock sensor isn't working?

The first part is the factory pats/default security. It's meant to go off that way. Recheck the connections for the shock sensor, make sure it's zip tied to the factory obdII connector. I'm pretty sure the shock sensor only works in conjunction with the remote start. Get that activated and you should be good to go. I installed my remote start a few weeks before I got the shock sensor.

UPDATE: My shock sensor works now that the remote start is enabled. I assume the security module didn't have power until the remote start was turned on. Either way it now works. I just have to find a happy sensitivity setting for it. The dealer I purchased the system from led me to believe that the security system doesn't need enabled to work. That may be true for the one without the remote.

A local Ford Dealer charged me $50 to enable the remote start and it took them about 30 minutes but that was mostly waiting my turn.

Thanks for the help

Good to hear! You get a really good price on the activation also.
