Default Scosche and aftermarket HU question

I am trying to figure out what size of screen I need to buy in order to use the Scosche kit on my 2009 XLT? I have seen the threads that says kenwood dnx 5140 (which has a 6.1 screen). SO basically I just wanted to know what should I be looking for in a HU so it will fit nicely into the scosche dash kit? right now Im looking into kenwood 5140 and 5160 just because I see they fit nicely from the pics on this site... thanks in advance...

Most DD HU are a universal size no matter the screen size. As long as it's a double din you should be fine.

My Kenwood DNX7160 is installed in a Schose panel with no extra bezel. Looks wonderful.

Here is scoshe kit I used for 2010 XLT. As others have said, these will fit all the radios you are talking about. Note, the single horizontal slot at top. Depending on your truck, you would get one like this or one with two horizontal slots. Metra (who otherwise make great wires stuff etc), also has dash kits, but I have heard they are not as well fitting as the Scoshe. Thanks

Look for any double din radio, it is a industry standard size. Screen 7 inch down as low as 4.3 inch for a double din. Dash kit is first based on if you do or dont have a factory head unit thats Nav... So buy a kit for your accordingly. Secondly only buy a C2R-FRD1 if there is something special you need your stereo to talk to on the MSCANBUS otherwise buy a BHA5800 for base model upgrades if you want to keep Radio Replacement Interface with SYNC® retention for Select Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Vehicles buy MS-FRD1. I owned a stereo shop for a lot of years so I kind of have an idea what to do...
