Sat radio
Anyone else notice that you can go under anything and the Sirus radio cuts out? Kinda annoying, also I have an Ipod touch, and when i go to the USB it says no media files, have to keep messing with it and it will finely work. All my songs came off store bought CDs so it not copy right issues.
As for the satilite radio, it has to have a direct link to the satilite. If you are under a structure, like a bridge or parking garadge, it won't work.
For the Ipod thing, I have a nano and don't have any problems with it anymore. When I first got the truck I had an after market cable and it would not read it. You might try to switch out the cables. I got a new one and then it works fine.

Size doesn't matter... regarding the antenna. No matter what you do, Sirius or xm will lose signal under a bridge etc. Sirius seems to lose it less than the xm radio I had in my last truck, and it had a large antenna. There is no way around it that I am aware of.
its because satellite signals operate on line of sight. the big thingy in space is in a geosynchronous orbit....which is why some listeners in central america and in northern canada get signal.
and the signal for my XM in my car has cut if i go to burger king...it happens, if its out of line of sight, the signal dies...big deal.

In the larger cities, they have repeater stations on the ground to prevent radio going dead driving thru areas like under overpass or in downtown areas (tall buildings). But it's the nature of the beast, no satellite signal, no sound.
As BOT posted, most larger city areas have terrestrial repeaters and signal loss is not as common. In town my XM works flawlessly in large cement parking garages downtown but I can easily loose the signal under a thin tree canopy or under the covered area of a gas station in rural areas.
