Default Rough idle in reverse

09 f150 supercab 165k rough idle in reverse after truck is warmed up unplugged both vct solenoids and it idles perfect. Had codes p0022 and p0012 show up one time. What are the odds both solenoids are bad? Truck runs great otherwise... any help here much appreciated thank you

I had the exact same thing on my 2009 after 187,000 trouble free miles. The truck was running fine, then in traffic at slow speeds it started running VERY rough, almost stalling. Traffic cleared and we picked up speed and it ran ok. Pulled up to the house, put it in reverse and it started running rough again. The reverse issue manifested itself several times and we ended up having the cam phaser sensors replaced for $1400. It ran ok for two weeks and is back to having issues. Now it will be going back to the shop, not sure if I want to repair this and keep chasing the problem or just install a new Ford long-block.

if it's related to the VCT, replacing both is the cheapest first step

Replaced the vct solenoids they didn't look to bad but the passenger side had a rip in one of the screens. Truck idles perfect now , pass side valve cover was a pain but overall not bad
