Default rim size?

I'm looking to see if my truck will take 17" rims as I'm looking to get some with winter tires on them. I have a 2012 f150 xtr that came with 18" rims and the label on the door only list the stock 18" tires. To me there's not much room in between the brake disks and the rims already and I'm not sure if 17's will fit. Can someone confirm before I go and buy some?

Both of my 2010's have 17" wheels, one xlt with alloys, one xl with steel.

Yep 17's come on lower trims. they're the smallest you can go, 16 will not clear the brakes.

I take my 18's off for the winter and put on steel 17's...
