And btw I ride with my tailgate down often, and the biggest draw back is that it's easier to remember it's down and back into something. Ask me how I know..
do you have a picture of how you mounted them on the tonneau cover? I had them on my old truck on the toolbox but took them off when I sold it and not sure where to mount them on the new truck. I have that same tonneau cover by the looks of it too

Just drilled a hole, threw the bolt through, and put a big washer on the bottom side of the cover. I've sincE switched to black hardware.

View from the cab.. stays out of sight which was the main reason why I chose that location. I still need to buy some stake pocket hooks so I can secure the rear wheel with the cover fully folded.

You're fine, just don't got hopping curbs at 25+ mph cause that tends to pop the tailgate off its pivots...

damn, I kind of figured that's how you did it & that's how I was thinking of doing it before. Looks really good like that, I'm just not sure if I want to drill holes in my nice tonneau cover thanks for the pics, I'll think about doing that this spring, as I may not have another choice

One of these would prevent rock chips and the tailgate from bouncing around...

if i have to ride with the tailgate down, I usually run a strap over & under it (from the inside of the box or the hitch) to hold it tight so that it doesnt bounce up and down
