Riddle me this?
I have a 2013 6.2L , 4X4 Platinum F-150. I was at the dealership for an oil change and looking under the truck for any signs of leaks, I noticed my front brakes are getting grooves on the rotors. They are randomly spaced and about a .032 deep. Is this normal?
The reason I ask is that the pads are about 5\16 thick and the truck has 45,000 miles.
Also can someone explain toe alignment for me. The front tires on the same truck the inside edge of the tire is badly wore .
Thanks

the easiest answer is that the stock brakes just wear like garbage pretty frequently. I don't know if it was just bad material, or not getting worn in properly, but I see them all the time completely shot at ~40k miles with warped, cracked or badly grooved rotors.
and this is what toe alignment is. the fronts of your tires are pointed inward, not rolling down the road perfectly straight which is scrubbing the insides of your tires.

Actually, if the INSIDE of the tires are wear abnormally, your front end has a "TOE OUT" condition, scrubbing the inside edge of the tires.
If you're adept, you can make a rudimentary toe adjustment in your driveway. Good enough to give you time to get it to an alignment shop.
FYI, proper alignment will NOT keep the tires from continuing to wear abnormally. Once they have an established wear pattern, they will keep wearing that way.
Your brakes sound normal. 45K miles isn't bad.

Thank you DavidKR for the pic.
Well as for the brakes, I was wondering about that if this frequent occurrence or a manufacturing defect. I am guessing the pads are poorly
made with semimetalic material. I suppose I will go buy some reputable aftermarket brake pads and turn down the rotors or do the whole brake system repair.

I have around 32k on the clock. My brakes shimmy oh so slightly when you apply the brakes. It's only noticiable when slowing from 50mph or more. I'll keep them on the truck until they are worn out or when I get annoyed enough.
