Default Retractable steps during winter?

How do they do in the winter? I live in Ohio and have to deal with snow, ice, and salt, has anyone ever had them fail due to the winter elements?

I have had them on both my 11 and now my 14. Never had a problem. Including this winter I have only ever seen a couple of trucks with the steps out while driving. Whether that was caused by snow/ice I am not sure. I spray mine out about once a week which may help. I live in N Ontario and the winters can be pretty brutal.

In our dealership, I've seen some long term problems from corrosion on them. They do get a little build up of slush, which can cause them to get stuck sometimes. I'd recommend mud flaps to help with that.
That said, I put a set on my own truck without hesitation! Just try and rinse them off every couple weeks.

I've had a small issue with slush build up, they go down fine but the heavy ice/slush prevents them going all the way back up.

I either give them help with my toe, knock off slush and ice then they fully retract.

I also advise like many others have that you add some silicone lube to the pivot pins. I didn't do this when first out on, not sure if it makes a difference but just did it and they do operate smoother.

I only have to put up with snow a few times a year and it's usually heavy wet stuff. The couple times this year that we had nice dry snow with hardback on the roads the were fine.
