Question Retractable running boards on Lariat?

I was surprised today while snooping around on the local FoMo lot (vulture dealers are off on Sundays) that a '15 Lariat Screw had retractable steps. I thought they were only available on KR and Platinums. Has anyone seen them on a Scab from the factory?

Not sure it would be a good option for me anyway in a winter climate. I bet they'd jam up with ice thus burning out the motor or the electronics would just fail with road salt here in the NE.

I think they are optional on the '15 lariats.

The boards on my 2011 Limited still work wonderfully going on 4 years of service, taking Alaskan winters without issue.

They just started offering them on the Lariats with the '15's. I have the Amp ones and I love them. Really cleans up the look of the truck and they are steps you can actually use unlike the stock ones. I live in Michigan so lots of ice snow. You just have to lube them a couple times a year and they work fine. Plus Amp has a 5 year warranty.

Pic of mine. First time it was warm enough to clean it up and take a pic since I installed the Amps.

What a gorgeous truck! Michigan and Alaska are both solid proving grounds. Does Ford use the Amp version or did they actually copy create their own!

Thanks for the nice comment. I couldn't agree more.

Ford actually paid a licensing fee to Amp Research to produce them. They have a different company make them but they are basically the same. The only thing with the Ford ones is you can't buy parts if something breaks. You have to replace the entire assembly. With the Amp ones you can get any parts you need right from Amp.

Amps also deploy/retract much faster than what ever oem is, saw a Plat the other day and watched the guy get in and close door, was like the boards were stuck in molasses compared.

The one I saw on the lot was unlocked. When I opened the passenger door the boards didn't deploy. Shouldn't they have? Battery was ok because the led dome lights came on.

They could have been turned off, there is that option. also if the battery goes dead or close to it the truck will automatically shut them off.

Seems odd they are only available on the Screw. Guess the Screw is the most popular cab configuration but I don't need the extra doors on mine.

They probably left it in transport mode while it sits on the lot, just guessing.
