I have come to understand I need to reprogram the abs module on my 09.. the lift and bigger tires (inadvertently activate electronic stability system/ abs) causing random slowing/activate breaks. - what a mess.
but I know what’s needed so that’s good. Question is do y’all recommend an alternative to the dealership? Maybe a flash chips or bully dog.. I know that will help me adjust tire size for shifting - do u think I can achieve reprogram abs through that method?
are y’all aware of a company that can program like the dealership can?
Ford wants to charge me 155 just to reprogram the abs - even though the Ford tsb itself says only .3 hours
I’m putting the new rancho upper control arms this weekend from summit racing. They account and will work for the new setup.
I than need to get alignment and tire rotate. So wondering what y’all think on the abs and get tire size into the computer
just Spend the bucks and Ford reprogram for 150 and buy a chip flash/bully dog/etc to also get on this sucker?
Not sure why you would have to reprogram the ABS module because you installed bigger tires... never heard of this. A programmer will help with adjusting the tire size in your computer but, will not address the ABS issues you are having. what DTC codes are you getting on the ABS system ?

The bigger tires with a level or lift on some early models will have the AdvanceTrac - ESC kick-in when accelerating into a corner where there would be more articulation and body roll. I experienced this first hand and it was right after the lift and bigger tires were installed on my truck. The best way to describe it was in my post here.
Anyway, long story short. After digging around online and getting frustrated with this issue. I finally ended up going to the dealership and requesting the TSB posted above to be flashed, which they only flash the ABS module with and lo and behold the cornering that I could repeatably cause the ESC to trigger was now completely gone! And that's after driving with that issue for a long time. I didn't have any codes either. The updated firmware corrected the numbers that was causing the ABS to engage as if the system thinks the truck is losing control and is trying to straighten the truck down the road again. As mentioned, this only happened after the lift and bigger tires were installed. Had no rubbing, nothing broken or ripped. Meticulously maintained!
That was my experience and why GFourd posted in question about an alternative option out there.
