Replacing Oil Pump
Okay, I have a 2010 XLT 5.4L. Been reading how when timing is done that the oil pump should be changed as well.
My question. My timing job was done (around 55,000, now just over 62,000) a few months after I bought the truck. I had not read about changing the oil pump at the same time until well after it was done. Although, I could do this, I just don't have the space, nor time as I would need to do this over the weekend as I need the truck to get to work. I'd need more time than that as wrenching on vehicles is not something I do very often and thus I'm not very efficient at it. Wife's schedule and mine do not mesh. That being said, is this something that would be worth paying someone to do it? I mean, is the original pump that bad that I should pay extra to replace it now??
Thanks in advance.

Thanks guys. I hope that is the case. Dealer did the job (done under a warranty that the wife wanted, more than paid for itself) and they told me that they found no sludge on the upper end. Phew but, I certainly would hope so on an engine with only 55,000 miles or so at the time. Plan on changing the oil every 5k with Mobil 1 and Motorcraft filters.
