Default Replacement alternator

Yesterday when I left home the battery light on my dash stayed lit. I ran a few errands and dropped the truck off at the local repair shop (not a Ford dealer) I use. Wife picked me up. Shop called a hour later and said alternator is toast and it would take a day to get a replacement from Ford. I asked about an after market and they said they preferred an re-manufactured Ford replacement as they have ha\d bad luck with after markets. I have used this shop for years and they have been very reliable and trustworthy. Anyone else hearing complaints about aftermarket alternators for F150s?

Aftermarket remans in general are known to be bad out of the box often. That's why they give lifetime warranties. Lifetime supply of bad parts.

Big issues with aftermarket alts. They haven't figured out how to rebuild the smart alts that our trucks have apparently.

Sounds right, the service manager said no guarantee with an after market but with a Ford re-manufacture they guarantee labor for a year.

You can depend on the NAPA brand - or OEM.
