Default Replace standard tailgate with step gate 2011 STX

I've read the past threads and was curious if anyone has replaced the standard tailgate with the step gate on a 2011 STX. I know the cost is crazy but am interested in doing this swap. I would think that if I could find a wrecked 2011 with the step gate, it would be a simple swap but I'm not sure what other years may work.

My wife is only 5'4" so the broader and lower step would help her to get in and out of the truck bed much easier and an OEM look would allow me to hear less . . . . chatter.

Thanks

Any year gate from 09-14 will work. I know for a fact brand new they are about $2000. Junk yard would be your best bet. Even then they are few and far between

Thanks mbullock. I figured they were very expensive but I have a high school buddy that runs a salvage yard. Maybe he can find one for me.

your best bet may be to find someone about to trade their truck in and swap tailgates. dealer isn't going to give them any additional money for having or not having the step.
