I remember this being a pita. I just pushed as hard as I could. Figured it would break or go back on. Lucked out and it went back on.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but where exactly did you pry to get the cover off? I have a similar set of interior panel tools, but can't seem to figure out where to apply pressure to get the cover to release. There is no slot for a screw driver or pry to fit anywhere on the perimeter of the cover. Many videos I've seen simply state to stick a screw driver in the slot. My cover has no slot anywhere. I fiddled with the dome cover for about 20 mins before deciding to stop so my frustration didn't end in me breaking the cover. I still haven't gotten it off. This is a picture of the dome cover in my 2012 supercab. Left is towards the front of the truck. Exactly where do I insert the tool and pry/push at?

I have the same cover in my 2012. Did you figure out where to pry on the cover to get it to release?

Mine was a beach! I watched a vid on it. You have to be carefull, but apply a fair amount of force. I put a black felt mark on the release tabs, for when I remove it next time. I also put an LED Phillips bulb on.

IIRC I might have pulled the whole light assy off and then pull the lens off. I think I tried putting the lens cover on, but could not do it without pulling the light assy off first. Painfull memory........... I think I tried forcing the lens back on but could not. I should have taken notes.

Yep, after many times tinkering with it, I found that was the only way. There are two tabs at the rear of the housing assembly to release it from the top of the truck. Remove the entire assembly, reattach the lens cover, then push the whole assembly back into place. If it had known that right off the bat, it would have saved me lots of time, beers, and cuss words.

Mine popped off with a lot of careful effort. My concern was that I might pull the light fixture out accidentally when I only wanted the lens to come off. With much pain and struggle I got it done, and replaced the bulb with an LED one.

I wish the LED I bought was a little brighter, but as long as it lasts I'll be OK.

Exactly. I thought I was buying one brighter than the stock halogen lamp. It's maybe a little brighter, and a little whiter, but not as bright as I had hoped. One mod that can help is to line the backing area inside the lamp assembly with some metallic tape to act as a reflector.
