Default Removeable Backrack with BakFlip tonneau?

I have a 2010 F-150 with the 5.5 ft bed with BakFlip tonneau cover.

I want to add a removable headache rack like the Backrack (only removeable) and still keep my existing BakFlip. It doesn't look like the Backrack will work with the BakFlip.

The rack I'm looking for would be mounted through the stake holes under the plastic cap. I would have to cut through the plastic cap. When not using the rack, I would fill the stake holes with bull rings (truck tie down anchors).

The maximum load is relatively light. Canoes, kayaks, extension ladder, etc. No heavy loads of lumber.

Has anyone done this without going to the special tonneaus with built-in rack rails?

Thanks for the compliment.

That pic was taken 2 years ago (dealer plate). I think it looks even better now.

But it would look even better if I could solve the headache rack problem.

A rack system... but not a headache rack... designed to work with your BAKFLIP & hardware.

https://www.bakfactoryoutlet.com/bakrak-1/bakrak.html

Made to work with your BAKFLIP but damn.... $850....
300lb Capacity
Easy take down.

I guess you can read the rest on the page.

I think one of this ladder rack could work fine with the bak flip as well:you just have to clear the folding area.

Perhaps I wasn't specific enough in my description of removeable headache rack that works with BakFlip F1.

The only support for the rack would be the stake slot which I will have to cut a hole in the plastic cap that covers the hole. When I'm not using the headache rack, I remove it and insert Bull Rings into the cutout holes in the plastic cap.

It is important to me that the tonneau cover remain flush with the tops of the side wall caps of the bed (for looks). I personally don't care for "bump up" tonneaus. That means I will avoid "bump up" side tracks if at all possible. I hope that when the headache rack is removed, the only difference from the photos above will be 2 Bull Ring tie down anchors. That's my concession to having a removable headache rack.

Once I work out the problem of a removable headache rack, then I buy the Thule Goalpost hitch receiver rack.

They show a roof rack for the front support in their advertisement, but I'm not a big fan of roof racks.

That's probably more than anyone wanted to know, but that's what I'm looking for (and so far can't find).

I'm in the same predicament... but think I have found the solution.

I assume that you've seen this:

http://bakindustries.com/i-8575388-t...-backrack.html

It's part number 92512 on the BackRack website.

I'm not sure if you can remove the Backrack though.

Which bakflip cover did you go with? I'm considering the Fibermax right now...

You are correct you just need the backrack tonneau cover adapter brackets and then you can use it with the flip cover. To removed the backrack you would have to unbolt it from the stake pockets.
