Default Remove Sync and Lighter HELP ASAP

Im getting a Motorola 2 way radio installed. Just a couple of places where it can go. Here is my thought... do not know if it can be done.

2009 F150, center console gear shift, non navigation. Heres my question.. on the bottom of the face plate below radio, climate controls I have a 3 inch strip that has the cigarette lighter and sync, and below that is a 1 inch piece of trim. CAN both these be removed and the cig/sync be relocated ???? What is behind these two panels ? Is there enough room to install and mount a radio ??? Im quite sure the cig/sync can be moved a few inches to the side and re-drilled, but Im wondering if there is anything behind that would prevent and install of a radio 7 inches wide, 2 inches high and 6-7 deep ?

Is there something inside that the radio could be mounted too ??? Who has had these panels removed ??? Any help would be apprechiated. thanks.

You can remove the sync and relocate them to the glove box if you like. Behind there is a mounting plate for a bolt that fastens the factory dash panel in place. You'll need to cut it off. Otherwise I believe it will fit. Best thing to do is take the panels off and look behind the dash to see what you need to do.

How important is this bolt/plate ? Remove the bolt and/or the plate ? Has anyone done this before you know of ? And before I start looking, is it a simple process to remove those two panels, or will others have to be taken off to access those ???

Basically that plate is for extra reinforcing for the dash panel. Those silver vent towers on either side of the center stack hold the panel in place well. Everyone that installs the in-dash iPad kit has to cut off this plate and a couple other tabs to make it fit. I haven't had any issues with this bolt plate missing. There are videos on yt that show how to take the dash apart. Look up "2009 F-150 sync lockpick install" and they show how to take it all apart.

Ok. I see that bolt your talking about. I pulled the bottom panel, and the sync faceplate out. Looks like plenty of room. Will have to see what I can do to hardscrew the radio mount in place and design some sort of faceplate. I have abit of concern though as when looking inside there appeared to be a metal rod about 1/5 in thick and 1/4 inch wide in the 2 and 8 oclock position about 3 inches in. It wasnt going straight across... but more of an angle like the hands of a clock at 2 and 8. Without taking the whole face kit off... any idea what this metal rod/stick is for ?
