Default remote start, hit or miss

My remote start works half the time and I always have to be within 10-15 feet of the truck. This is my 3rd f150 with integrated factory remote start And the others worked so much better. Sometimes it fails and honks, other times it makes a sound with the starter like bits about to start and then stops immediately. It didn't bother me.much before bit now it's -30C and it's a little more bothersome

Think it's just a battery issue or should be bring it in? I didn't try changing the batteries yet, I'll b probably try that first. Anyone else having this issue ?

I'm certain if I bring it to the dealership, Murphy will kick in and it will start flawlessly... that's what's stopped me until now.

I have the exact same issue and have been wondering for awhile now if anyone else has been experiencing it. I will see the lights flash like it has started but it hasn't. Let me get 10 ft away and starts without any issues. I always forget to mention it when Im at the dealer, but I can only imagine they will feed me something about that's how its suppose to work or charge me for a repair that wont change anything.

Have you ever noticed anything weird with the sync system after using the remote start? Sometimes it almost looks like the system doesn't boot correctly because none of the settings are right. Temp will be turned off and radio reset. I will stop and restart the truck and its all back right. This only happen using the remote start that I have noticed.

Only one time, yesterday brought the kids to daycare and had no sound from the radio, looked like it was playing, but no volume. After Restarting the truck it came back. Sync never really looked weird other than the usual reboots for system maintenance.

My remote start is kind of flaky too. Same symptoms sometimes it starts and others not - lights flash and/or honks. When it happens it's uually when further away, but has also happened closer in.

I do not have remote start (OEM or aftermarket) but my key fob does not seem to work until I am within 15 feet of the truck.

My 2001 Bulliltt and my old 2008 Ranger work at distances far greater than my 2014 F150 does.

Any of you guys have this problem?

Mine is the same way! Every once in awhile it will have a brain fart it seems and I have to be literally right next to the truck before my key fob will open the doors. Wondering where the flaw would most likely be the receiver on the trucks or the fobs themselves?? Haven't payed any attention when switching keys if ones does it more than the other!?

Try replacing the battery in the key fob first. I have found that they are less likely to act up with a fresh battery.
