Default Remote start and heat/ac settings

I've searched, but honestly there is so much stuff on here it's hard to narrow it down and I haven't found the information (although maybe I didn't look hard enough)

I just got a key for my truck....it's one that I had to have programmed (went through a locksmith not the Ford dealer so maybe there are issues there I'm unaware of) Anyway, when I do the remote start no interior lights are on, and it doesn't appear that the heat/ac settings are coming on like I would expect them to. I checked the display in the dash and made sure that both the driver and passenger seats are set to auto and that it's set to "last setting" for them to come on...but it doesn't appear to be working.

The key is a Ford OEM key I bought from the dealer, with the remote start built into it. Their key cutter was down so I went to a locksmith to have it cut and they said they could do the programming for me...pulled out the computer, etc. I'm not sure if this is an issue or not.

Also, if it plays into it...whenever I turn off the truck, the seat heater/ac is shut off....and it won't default back to the setting when turned off....is this something I can fix?

Any ideas?

Try setting the heat/ac to be on (not last setting).

The key isn't the issue if the truck remote starts... The truck's computer controls things after that.

Like Ricktwuhk said, if your truck remote starts then the key is not the issue.

here is an extract from the manual for what each of the remote start functions do.

REMOTE START CLIMATE OPERATION (IF EQUIPPED)

The climate control system adjusts the cabin temperature during remote
start.
You cannot adjust the system during remote start operation. Turn the
ignition on to return the system to its previous settings. You can now
make adjustments. You will need to turn certain vehicle-dependent
features back on, such as:
• heated seats
• cooled seats
• heated mirrors
• heated rear window.

Automatic Climate Systems
Automatic Settings
You can set the climate control to operate in AUTO mode through the
information display setting: Remote Start > Climate Control > Heater –
A/C > Auto. The climate control system automatically sets the interior
temperature to 72°F (22°C).
In hot weather, the system is set to 72°F (22°C). Cooled seats are set to
high (if available, and selected to AUTO in the information display).
In moderate weather, the system either heats or cools (based on
previous settings). The rear defroster, heated mirrors and heated/cooled
seats are not automatically turned on.
In cold weather, the system is set to 72°F (22°C). The heated seats
are set to high (if available, and selected to AUTO in the information
display). The rear defroster and heated mirrors are automatically turned
on. If it is desired to have the system operate in defrost mode, select
AUTO for Heater – A/C. Also select AUTO for front defrost in the
information display.

Last Settings
You can set the climate control to operate using the last climate control
settings through the information display setting: Remote Start > Climate
Control > Heater – A/C > Last Settings. The climate control system
automatically uses the settings last selected before the vehicle was
turned off.

Heated and Cooled Devices
The climate control system controls other heated and cooled devices
inside the vehicle. These devices (if available, and selected to AUTO in
the information displays) may also be switched on during remote start.
Heated devices are typically switched on during cold weather, and cooled
devices during hot weather

I've had zero luck with my seats every turning on, I've always had mine set on Auto and it'll blow heat/air but never the seats.

I'm lost on how to remedy this issue.

IDK, mine always work. I assume they work normally once you are driving?

It has to be below a certain temperature for the heated seats to turn on, same as the rear defrost and heated mirrors. I also think that when the seats turn on its on the lowest setting. On mines the seat feels warm but not like the toasty feeling when its on high or medium.

Go to Settings, then Vehicle and then remote start on the Dash menu and then make sure all of the defrost, seats and rear defrost are set to auto.
Also they do not stay on after you turn the key on, you have to turn them on if you want them to stay on.

Is there any way to do this without going through the screen?
I don't have the other blue tooth device to allow for changing the screen.

I got the remote start to work but cannot keep the climate control stuff working.

If I shut the truck off with the AC on and the blower going full, the AC does not come on with the remote start.
Is there a setting in forscan that I can't find?

Is the auto climate control built in to the truck or is there something I have to buy?

You turn on the option in FORScan, and you then change the settings in the screen menu. That's the way it's done.

If you used Forscan to run on remote start in the BCM, then all you need is to turn on the function in the IPC using the settings below
