Remote Start/Auto Climate Control Question
Trying to clarify what I'm reading in the owner's manual - say, during cold periods, do you set the automatic climate control setting to "auto" after exiting the vehicle? Then the next morning, the settings will be set automatically during remote start based on the outside temperature?
That's what I'm reading; just trying to clarify.
Also, it seems as if the heated/cooled seats do NOT activate automatically; they must be engaged manually upon entering the cab. Right?
(Wow - that was some discussion on the "$5.00 gas" thread, huh? Hope everyone's cooled off by now. Let's be friends again.... 'k?
Oh - and the real debatable question - I don't feel comfortable with the first oil change at 7,500 miles. 3.5L EcoBoost - thinking Motorcraft semi-synthetic at WalMart (what I used in the 2010 XLT).
First oil change - when?

Lastly - my '12 Oxford White's door jam label shows the color code as "WB". A site from which I've ordered body side molding shows only codes YZ or Z1 for Oxford White. Want to try to change/cancel the order if the company's color code chart is wrong.

Edit: First oil change is 7500 miles. Ford designed that motor and they are the ones that have to warranty it. The fact is that today's synthetic oils are so much better than yester-years motor oils that 7,500 miles is pretty common.

1. If you set the seats to Auto, they will only come on if the outside temperature is below freezing. What I've noticed is that the few mornings here in TX that it has been below 32, my truck doesn't realize this until I've been driving for a minute or two so it never turns them on. Maybe it was too close to the temp and not actually below it.
2. I had my first change done at 3,500. Some may recommend to go longer, but I felt better at 3,500. I now do it every 6-7k to coincide with when I do my tire rotations as well. I do my own and stick with the Motorcraft filter, but use Pennzoil Platinum synthetic. As long as it has the API symbol on it, you should be fine.

First, I'm a tool. I can't read.
I just edited my post and deleted one question that was right in front of me. Good ol' hemigod - bless him...he pm'd me and set me straight before I lost whatever credibility I had here.
He's a good man.
Okay - so, we have a consensus on the first oil change! Yea! Oh, wait..no we don't.
Sorry to ask what's probably obvious to everyone else, but is the oil from the factory synthetic?
Motorcraft semi-synthetic should be fine, oui?

I am not saying that is the case but realistically while it would certainly not be smart you could probably get to 60k miles with only one or two oil changes.
The oil and filters are so cheap relative the cost of the truck I would do it sooner. It certainly can't hurt.
I would do it sooner. Maybe Ford is smarter than we think. What if the 7500 intervals will ensure it to last through the warranty period (5yr/60k) but will hurt the long term life so you are not driving it to 250k miles and instead are buying a new truck?

Maybe, but those kind of reliability issues would be damaging to Ford's sales. Right now Ford trucks are riding high, higher than they have ever been. They wouldn't dare risk sallying their reputation by intentionally causing future non-warranty repairs.
