Yeah and Ford raised the cost of the license from $699 to $850 this year.

Tried going in this morning before work to have it done. Apparently their "open 7am-7pm" on Saturdays isn't a thing anymore contrary to their website saying so. Am now going to try and take the truck in Wednesday to have it done. I'll report back with how much lighter my wallet is afterwards.

When i got mine activated I actually just took it to my preferred ford dealer/shop and spoke with the shop manager. I had the instructions in hand and as soon as he seen how simple it was he hooked up and 2 minutes later it was done. A hand shake was all it cost for me; the guy insisted i continue getting my service work done at their shop in return for the courtesy activation, I gladly obliged. This was excellent customer service I refer them anytime someone asks me where they should go. If I had just booked in to do this, I'm sure it would have been at least half hour shop time, but i just showed up, waited for manager who was "Knowledgeable with the IDS system", explained simply what needed to be done to him and he did it. maybe you'll get lucky too good luck!! They do like to keep returning customers happy most of the time so if theres some pushback try a subtle hint of using a different shop in the future for all your service. It may help coerce them into doing this for you.

why I went with the after market remote, no programming required, no driving to the dealership, no waiting at the dealership, no extra key fobs, and cost less then the programming alone!

No extra fob with the op's system, it's built right into the key. http://www.levittownfordsupercenter....yle-p-442.html further more, it allows for the climate control system to operate depending on ambient temp, it'll turn the heat/ac on accordingly.

Mine was either $45 or $55 to activate, can't remember which. I think the dealer was pissed that I did it myself rather than let them do it for some ridiculous amount of money, so they played stupid when I got there.

They wanted to have a tech look at it for problems because it "wasn't working." They didn't cycle the keys and finish the process... Instead they wanted to charge me so a tech could read 5 lines of instructions and finish the job they were supposed to do. As soon as I pulled in my driveway I read it, finished their job, and it was perfectly fine. Dealership lost a lot of my trust that day.

Helps that I already knew how to use it. Ex Ford master tech.

Nice to see you price gouging the dealer back

Ok well ended up having to take it this morning. Oil change, key cut and programmed, and remote start enabled out the door for $187. Not terrible. Still more than I would have liked but it's done.

The instructions on how to activate through IDS or instructions on how to install? Where are the instructions to activate through the IDS?
