Remote Start

I purchased and installed through dealer. I think it cost about $350 all together, but comes with 2 additional keys.
Range is not great, but it is plug and play. No splicing.. I have had aftermarket systems in the past and I find that no matter how reputable the shop, the installation is too intrusive to the oem wiring and they eventually fail or worse, cause electrical issues in the vehicle.

Having a remote start with crappy range makes no sense to me, the whole point is to be able to start it from a good distance. I leave my keys next to my bed and start it when I get up so when I'm done doing whatever it's either warm or cold. My buddy with the 100 hated his and couldn't even start it from 30' away so he ended up going with the OEM one with the phone app.

I went with viper remote start on mine!
I wanted the range and with the OEM system the range is crap especially on the 100!
It really depends on if you want plug and play or if you done mind a professional installer to splice wires. I knew I was keeping my truck for a long time so I opted for the nicer Viper which was $500 installed. I probably paid a bit more but I researched and went with a custom audio shop to do the install and it's very OEM looking and can barely tell its aftermarket. All connections are soldered and not tapped.
I did not have mine work with stock alarm as it's just a horn and a starter interrupter. I have that with the viper. Also there are options galore if you want to pay for them with the viper, arm it and the windows all close, etc.

I'm not sure about splicing wires on a Can Bus computer system.

This could be an issue but also why I went with a shop that has lifetime warranty.

Got Satellite and internet and mobile phone on monthly payments.
Not paying for remote start with a Mobile phone.
Seen it at Car Toys and knew up front. It was nice if you want to pay for it.
Thanks anyway.

I'm retired. All these payments for a year here and there is not good. Got Satellite and internet and mobile phone on monthly payments. Not paying for remote start with a Mobile phone. Seen it at Car Toys and knew up front. It was nice if you want to pay for it. Thanks anyway.
The reason I say aftermarket is the range, I get almost a mile if it's flat but in the city I can get it to start a few blocks away. You simply cannot do that with the ford one unless you get phone app.
If you get a viper and decide to do phone app, you can but it will cost you. I think they do a monthly, yearly or lifetime (one lump sum) plans.
