Default Relocating the stock sub

Has anyone tried to relocate the stock sub on a 2014? The sound is not the best but right now my main focus is to simply gain more room in the backseat with the seat bottoms up. My thought was to take some of the compartment under the driver side rear seat and making a custom box then mounting the sub in that gap. Thoughts?

I'm also considering putting it into the back of the middle rear seat...I'm surprised nobody has tried any of this...that ugly plastic box is completely in the way!

Nobody has tried it because the stock sub sucks and it's not worth the time and effort to relocate it when you could have a quality setup in the same places behind the seats that is worth the time and effort.

The stock sub box is far too awkward of a size and shape to really fit anywhere else. If you really need access to more of the floor, keep a ratchet and remove the 3 bolts and wiring harness (takes 5 min or less) and take the sub out when you need to.

I took it out the other day to look at it and yes its simple to remove. I've been reading through everyone's posts as I'm very new to the F150 and I'm trying to figure out if there is a low profile sub that fits behinds the rear seats. That would be ideal as I don't need anything crazy in terms of bass, but I still want a nice balanced sound that with the windows open at 80mph is still loud enough and clear. TJ what system do you have in your truck?

Do a search in this section or the audio section of the forum and you will find many installs and recommendations for this low profile powered subwoofer:

most folks have installed 1 and or 2 behind the rear seats without any spacing issues.

I recently installed a Rockville powered sub behind the back of the rear seat. I discovered the sub on Amazon but got it from ebay for $100 including an amp install kit and free shipping. Based on the excellent reviews and cheap price I went for it. I'm so glad I did, this little sub puts out super clean bass and its very powerful. Fits perfect behind the seat. Check out my thread for more details

Scroll down in the thread and you'll see a picture and a video of the sub in action.
