I know there are a lot of threads about this but I can't really find anything that pertains to what I want.

I have a 2013 FX4 with the base package. I believe it has the max tow package because I remember that being a large factor in my purchase but I also kind of remember it having 3.55 axles, I'm gonna check for sure later when I get the chance but I'm looking to add bilsteins and put a larger tire on. I wanna get the biggest tire I can fit with a 12.50 width and little to no rubbing so I think it's gonna end up being around 34" or maybe 35". If I do have the 3.55 is it really worth it to regear to something larger? I want to do everything I can to preserve the longevity so if that's a big factor in regearing then I guess I would wait and save for that.

I would say no.

How long do you plan on keeping the truck?
Do you plan on doing it for low end torque/power?

 

I'm in college now and plan on driving this truck well over 100,000 miles and I don't know what boat I will eventually have, I guess I could always regear later if I thought it was necessary for towing. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't take a major performance hit or have a negative effect on the transmission or anything

Your in college and have better stuff to spend your money on. Like beer and women! You can always do the mod down the road if you feel it necessary.

 

I would suggest atleast a custom tuning to accomodate the larger tires. Fix the speedo and adjust shift points to keep tranny temps down
