Reflector to Blinkers Version 2 with pics

Thanks to whoever started this and came up with the idea!!!! I'm going to do this soon, but was wondering( I'm Slow) do I need a resistor just to do the turn signals?? Or just tap into the wires??? Also, when you get the LED strip, do they come in the two rows, or did you guys make them that way yourselves? Thanks!!!

Check out post towards end for easier mod for 2012 trucks, you can use the switched 12 volt wires from window switch. Only thing, is that it's hot when key is on.
If you run two strips in each mirror you dont need anything fancy.
I used some edge lit leds for the running light and the new Alpena Max leds for the turn signal.

I realize there is a excellent video on how to do this on here already. But it just makes me nervous to try to pop off the mirror and in fact gave up that idea since I tried another approach.
On the mirror is an access hole,
I don’t know for what but it works perfect for this. Pop it open and you will find two wires typical green and black and you can feel they attach to the other side on the turn indicator on the mirror side. I popped off the reflector and it came off very easily.
Then I used a drill with a small cutting wheel attachment to carve out carefully along the traced outline.
I test fit it over the led strip and it worked perfectly.
If I could I would label the pictures but dont see off hand how to do it really easily... But this is the easiest way to make it work yet I have seen....

Hi Gilroy,
I have all of the parts to complete this mod one evening, the one questions that I do have, the circuit where you specify with a diode on the power line, I only need to worry about this if I am going to run the parking wire correct? If I am just tieing into the leds for the turn signals on the mirrors I shouldn't need to worry about this correct?
Thanks,

Glad I found this thread. I wanted to do this mod but was concerned about breaking a mirror. I'll check out the wiring thru the puddle lights. Hoping I have enough slack to do it this way.

It's been over a year since I did this. But I think it's a pop out. There is barely any slack, but its doable if you take your time. I was too scared to pop off the mirror. This worked great for me.
